Rochester is a town steeped in history. The romans made it a strong hold settlement in 43AD by building a bridge across the River Medway. After the conquest the Normans built the first Stone Castle in 1088. This historic citadel is also home to Charles Dickens who took inspiration from many sites and buildings in his novels.
This is the ideal tour for anyone who loves photography, history and architecture.
Guided by myself ( a local photographer) you will be taken on a slow walk around the old citadel stopping off at all the best photogenic areas. Advice will be given on composition, camera settings and how to handle the light and weather conditions of the day.
Starting off in the Castle grounds, the circular tour will take approximately 2 hours. Taking in the Bridge, Cathedral, St Margaret's Church, the town houses in St Margarets Street, The Vines, the old priory gateways, Restoration and Eastgate Houses. Concluding along the busy High Street where we will have a well earned tea/coffee in one of the cafes.
Included in the tour is a fact sheet containing some historical information on some of the sites we will be visiting.
